IRP Description
Hrukh Banepaw has dark brown fur and sturdy, smooth horns, displaying his youth as obviously as his curious, misty blue eyes. Despite his young age, he has a gruff, sagging face which seems to contradict his otherwise 'fresh' appearance.
Shorter than most tauren, and with broader shoulders, Hrukh yet has to fully grow into his body.
His voice is deep and wispy, like that of a humid ocean wind. His breath (as well as his fingers) often smell of mint.
Back Story
Though the tauren were a nomadic people for most of their existence, the Wheathoof Tribe have long been cultivators of crops and grains. They lived a semi-nomadic lifestyle, staying in the same as long as the soil is fertile, then moving on to another, predetermined location.
It was eleven years after the fall of the Banepaw Tribe that a dying mother with her calf of eleven summers (still very young for a tauren) arrived outside a bluff where the Wheathoof were living in the Stonetalon Mountains. The shaman managed to heal the mother of her grievous wounds inflicted by quilboar. They restored her to health and told her she could stay with them throughout the dry season. She thanked them humbly, telling them her name was Atwu Breezemane.
The calf was named Hrukh. The female was not his mother at all, but a wanderer who had come upon his true mother as she was giving birth to him outside of the Banepaw camp ravaged by Kolkar. She died in childbirth without the blessings of a shaman. The last thing she told Atwu was that Hrukh was a Banepaw, and he should never forget it.
During the dry season Hrukh tried to fit in amongst the few other Wheathoof calves, but had limited social skills due to being raised mostly away from other tauren. Atwu was a good mother, but distant and full of sadness. This sort of roaming and adopting was common among the tauren at that point in time, but it prevented Hrukh from making any friends.
One young tauren approached him when others would not, offering her hand in friendship. Young Telomwe became distant Hrukh's steadfast friend.
He needed her friendship more than anything else when his adoptive mother left Hrukh amongst the Wheathoof at the end of the dry season. She said he would be safer and happier with a tribe, but that she could not stay. Hrukh has not seen his mother since.
Hrukh continued to live with the Wheathoof and grew closer to them. However, he always shared his deepest feelings only with his close friend Telomwe. The Wheathoof began calling him 'Windchanter', for he was often seen singing or talking on high up cliffs and perches. To this day, he has a habit of standing on high cliffs and chanting to the wind. Some shaman in the Wheathoof thought he may be truly speaking to the wind, and considered apprenticing him once he came of age.
It was a year before his rite of adulthood was to take place when the Bloodhoof Tribe called for all tauren to join them and the strangers with green skin in the war against the Kolkar. The tribes retook Mulgore and joined the orcish Horde. Though adult in body and mind, tradition dictated that Hrukh was not old enough to join the battle. He did, however, aid the shaman in healing the wounded.
The following year was a time of change for the Shu'halo. From the northern forests came the Kal'dorei; night elves. They had always fascinated the tauren, and were finally coming from their hidden shadows to meet the rest of the world. Elders from many tribes sent emissaries to make peace with them. Hrukh was finally of age and eagerly joined the elders of the Wheathoof into Ashenvale.
The night elves saw the love for nature the tauren had, and invited them into the Cenarion Circle. Hrukh knew his presence could aid the tauren in building Thunder Bluff and Orgrimmar, but he was far more interested in these shape changing elves and their ways. He was among the first to apprentice to Hamuul Runetotem.
In Moonglade, Hrukh occasionally met with a tauren named Nahlhana, who was also Banepaw. She was very educated about the tribe, and told him all of its legends and stories. Nahlhana told Hrukh that someday, the tribe would be reunited. She left Moonglade, having only come to find Banepaw survivors and kin. Hrukh has not heard from her in over a year.
Hrukh's time in Moonglade was long. He was a slow learned and had difficulty mastering the ability to communicate with nature directly, but became a great healer in time. He journeyed into the Emerald Dream for nearly a year once his training from the elves was nearly complete. After this excursion he felt ready to go out into the world and help where he could.
It is here that the true story of Hrukh Windchanter begins. He met up with Telomwe again and explored the lands of the Horde. Called to reunite the Banepaw Tribe, he had eagerly taken his place in their community as a healer and lore master.
Personality Traits
Hrukh never shares his real name with outsiders to the tribe. Instead he always refers to himself as Windchanter. Hrukh is not racist, but wary of the Horde. He has lived amongst tauren and night elves his entire life up until just month ago.
Like most tauren, Hrukh is slow to speak but purposeful when he does. He talks slowly and sometimes takes too long to clearly illustrate his point, as he likes to ensure that he is fully understood.
In social situations, Hrukh avoids being the center of attention unless he is telling a story or has something important to say.
Somewhat obsessive, Hrukh finds himself focusing entirely on one task at a time. He has a hard time deviating from his current goal or aspiration. While this is helpful at times, it can be hindering to him when other things come up or his task is too broad to be 'completed'.
((I'll add more as it comes to me. This is mostly for my own reference until I get better at Hrukhing. Haha.))
